Slave trade was like cocaine is now — even though it was against the law, that didn’t stop anybody. Imagine getting $1,000 for a human being. That’s a lot of money. There are fortunes in this country that were made that way

Fun fact: Cheetahs only attack prey that runs

jesus that is good to know.

Yup, that’s the point you just stay still and let it do whatever the fuck it wants that doesn’t involved you getting eaten.

REALLY FUN FACT for big cats cheetahs are fucking docile as shit
my grandfather ran a cheetah sanctuary in south africa and he’d just lie with them and sleep among them and they’d rub against him and chirp at him they’re big fucking babies

Another Fun Fact: Cheetahs are incredibly nervous animals. One of the (many) reason’s they’re going extinct is that cheetahs are so sensitive and nervous, some of them are literally too nervous to breed. Others will breed, but stress themselves out so much, they’ll lose their cubs. So zoos with breeding programs had to figure out how to make cheetahs comfortable enough to first of all, get laid and secondly - not spazz themselves into miscarrying. So what’d they do? They gave the cheetah’s their very own Service Dogs! The dogs make them feel safe, protected and secure!

Jezebel follows Black women. But must Black women hide in the shadows of themselves in an effort to avoid it?

After all, in reality a Black woman can’t avoid Jezebel. Any Black woman daring to live and exist will be victim to the image whether that looks like someone commenting on how all Black women are “loose” or a person on the street propositioning a random Black woman for sex.

Jezebel is present when virgin and celibate Black women are looked upon like angels and told that they’re “so much better” than other Black women. Only to be treated like a disposable after sex by the same people who seemed to praise them.

Jezebel was present when I was a preteen and told that I should never be alone with a man because he will expect sex and it will be my fault when he gets angry if I say no.

Jezebel is not present when I view my sexuality outside of the white and male gaze. But that is a continuous struggle. In the meantime, I don’t want to be bombarded with the “sex positive” movement or feminism that does not fully recognize and honor the complexities of re-conceptualizing the institutionally devalued femininity (and sexuality) of Black women.

Uh, did this guy admit to committing fraud/perjury?

Doesn’t matter what box you mark on financial aid forms. The race/ethnicity markers are just for statistical purposes, you don’t get any money or any discounts from that. Any time you get any aid specifically intended for NDNs, there’s a vetting process in which you either have to provide your enrollment number or proof of direct lineage to an immediate family member who is enrolled (although I think some financial aid programs will let you claim an enrolled grandparent)
If it were as easy as just ticking off a box, there’d be no money left in Indigenous education funds for actual NDN people
Looks like just another White dude spreading fabrications about how educational aid for Indigenous people works to me

that.

HOW CAN WE BE HAPPY ?
Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar. Suddenly the speaker stopped and decided to do a group activity. He started giving each one a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.
Now these delegates were let in that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written, within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.
At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon. Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.
The speaker began— exactly this is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is.
Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness; you will get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life.
